Good stuff. I particularly appreciate the work that was done to enable users to extend/tweak existing functionality in a manner that you couldn't before.

I've found a small problem. It seems that spring-ide-2.2.0 and spring-ide-2.1.0 are missing "org.apache.commons.codec" (the security extension depends on this .jar).

Yes that is a bug. I raised a JIRA for this at:

IDE-931: security feature depends on commons.codec
http://jira.springframework.org/browse/IDE-931

If you want to get Spring IDE 2.2 installed please install Eclipse Mylyn as well as this will install the commons.codec bundle.

I'm not aware of that. Can you please raise a JIRA and I'll look into it asap.

I was having problems connecting to the update site via Eclipse, so I downloaded the archived file, unzipped it and copied it to the Eclipse directory. The result: my perfectly configured Eclipse Ganymede Jboss Tools lost all its configuration and started in a minimal state, even without the minimum bundled characteristics. I'll have to reinstall my IDE, you made my day!

Did I do something very wrong or is it just that these updates should be throughly tested prior to being released, so we don't ruin our Eclipse installations? Or at least, better documented. I'm sure that even if I did something wrong, a lot of people must have followed the same steps with the same result! :(

I have been trying to use the Eclipse Updater functionality to install version 2.2, but have run into a whole bunch of dependency issues.

This is the list of issues I see. Any thoughts? Am I simply missing a piece? I have the most recent updates for Eclipse Ganymede 3.4.2.

Thanks!

I've got the same ADJT/AOP dependency problem as above. I see the comments about following the installation instructions, but cannnot find any (googled extensively).

I'm using Eclipse Galileo on Ubuntu 9.

John

P.S. As a piece of more general feedback, I didn't find the blog style very accessible as a newcomer - unless you know exactly what you're looking for then the blog style makes it difficult to find. I'm lookin for "Downloads", "Eclipse plugin", "Installation Instructions", "Latest Release" ...the kind of key links I see on other sites.

Although I used SpringIDE in the past, it has been a while. I am currently using Eclipse Ganymede SR2 and Spring 2.5.6. Due to a dependency on the MKS version control system, I unfortunately cannot move to newer version of Eclipse.

When I tried to install SpringIDE using the update site http:springide.org/updatesite I first noticed that the version is 2.3 (which is higher than the last one mentioned here - 2.2), and I got a dependency error that could not be resolved: org.eclipse.birt.chart.ui.2.3.1.v20080911.

What did I do wrong and what can I do?

Don't know why make such a preliminary tool.

Why there is a 'Spring Project', and after it is created, no any jar files are imported? And the bean configuration wizard is depending on this empty project. Isn't spring is often used by Web project? How can this toolkit can't be used with WAD project. Really don't understand what this tools is purposed for.
