This might not be big news as we just announced GA of SpringSource dm Server today but I’m proud to announce that Spring IDE 2.2 has been released.
As always the release is available from the update site hosted at Amazon S3. Here are the links:
- Update site: http://dist.springframework.org/release/IDE (this link does not work in a browser, but in your Eclipse update manager!)
- Archived update site: spring-ide_updatesite_2.2.0_v200809261800.zip
- Changelog: Release 2.2
This release introduces a first version of an incremental approach to model creation and validation. This will help to speed up the usual development cycle of edit-save-compile-validate by detecting structural changes to Java classes and only trigger project validation and re-creation of the AOP model if actually required. In essence you will not need to wait if you just change a method body.

Good stuff. I particularly appreciate the work that was done to enable users to extend/tweak existing functionality in a manner that you couldn’t before.
I’ve found a small problem. It seems that spring-ide-2.2.0 and spring-ide-2.1.0 are missing “org.apache.commons.codec” (the security extension depends on this .jar).
Great work team! I will update with the latest….
Yes that is a bug. I raised a JIRA for this at:
IDE-931: security feature depends on commons.codec
http://jira.springframework.org/browse/IDE-931
If you want to get Spring IDE 2.2 installed please install Eclipse Mylyn as well as this will install the commons.codec bundle.

Merci
Spring IDE update site is down since days :(
Hello every one ,since i updated spring IDE for my eclipse Europe , eclipse can not lauch, why ,i do it for many times !
what problem ocurred!
There is an annoying bug in 2.2 when writing a ref=”" Eclipse can’t find any references with
It just says “Content Assist not available at current location” so the references has to be guessed right.
I’m not aware of that. Can you please raise a JIRA and I’ll look into it asap.
Christian
Why does the update site appears to be down for you? What problem are you seeing?
Christian
I am getting error as operation timed out due to invalid address!
I just can’t seem to get eclipse-jee-ganymede-SR1-linux-gtk to recognise either of the urls of the spring ide update site. Eclipse says ‘No repository found at http://dist.springframework.org/release/IDE‘. Help!
Bye,
can you help me to guide the installation of Spring IDE without point to update site? My enterprise proxy denide access to site.
Thanks
I am a fan of SpringFramework.
By the way which version of SpringFramework is supported
in Spring IDE 2.2 ?
I am following all releases of Spring IDE and shall definitly be trying this out as well…
I was having problems connecting to the update site via Eclipse, so I downloaded the archived file, unzipped it and copied it to the Eclipse directory. The result: my perfectly configured Eclipse Ganymede Jboss Tools lost all its configuration and started in a minimal state, even without the minimum bundled characteristics. I’ll have to reinstall my IDE, you made my day!
Did I do something very wrong or is it just that these updates should be throughly tested prior to being released, so we don’t ruin our Eclipse installations? Or at least, better documented. I’m sure that even if I did something wrong, a lot of people must have followed the same steps with the same result! :(
I have been trying to use the Eclipse Updater functionality to install version 2.2, but have run into a whole bunch of dependency issues.
This is the list of issues I see. Any thoughts? Am I simply missing a piece? I have the most recent updates for Eclipse Ganymede 3.4.2.
Thanks!
